Pill
This is sometimes known as the ‘morning after pill’
It is a tablet that can be given up to 72 hours (3 days) after having unprotected sex. The earlier you get it, the more likely it is to work at preventing a pregnancy.

- Your own doctor

- And you can buy it at pharmacists but you have to be over 16 years old

Emergency Coil
These can be fitted up to 5 days after sex. They need to be fitted by a specially trained doctor or nurse. Always check that your clinic or doctor is able to offer this service.
It works by:
- Stopping an egg being fertilised
- Stopping an egg implanting in the womb
